Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Original Automatic Blue Dial Stainless Steel Bracelet Men’s Watch DM2218B-S1CJ-BE
The Case:
The Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon DM2218B-S1CJ-BE is housed in a 43mm case that is forged out of stainless steel that has been treated to a combination of brushed and polished finishes. It features a blue rotating curved sapphire bezel that exhibits a 60-minute count-up scale that is brought to life through micro gas tubes, which allow it to be read in the dark. A screw-down crown is located at 3 o’clock, it is held in place by a locking clasp that folds over the crown to ensure that the wearer screws the crown down fully. It is embossed with the Ball logo. The case’s sapphire crystal has been treated to an anti-reflective coating to ensure that the dial remains always readable.
Additionally, the case has a mu-metal shield which gives the watch highly permeable properties, especially against any magnetic interference. The case is also designed using an anti-shock system, which protects the mechanisms of the watch from being knocked out of position.
The Dial:
The dial is presented in blue with a sunray effect, which adds a subtle texture and appears to change as the light rolls off of it. It exhibits an uncomplicated design which enables the dial to be easily read. It showcases a combination of circular indexes, baton-style indexes and a triangular index at 12 o’clock. The hour markers are illuminated by tritium gas tubes which allow for night time reading. Similarly, the bold sword-style handset also features a luminescent tube. The tips of the handset have been hollowed allowing for a more accurate reading of the time. A 60-minute scale is located around the outermost edge of the dial. A day-date display aperture is located beside the 3 o’clock marker.
The Bracelet:
The watch is presented on a solid stainless steel bracelet which is fashioned in a H-link style. The bracelet has been treated to a combination of brushed and polished finishes. The bracelet also features a diver’s extension and a patented folding buckle system.
The Functions:
This timepiece is powered by Balls’ automatic calibre RR1102-CSL movement, which offers a power reserve of 38 hours. It is chronometer certified by the COSC and it is water resistant to 200 metres which means that it can be worn when diving.
