Having already established themselves as major players in the consumer electronics world, Casio entered the timepiece market in 1974 with the release of the Casiotron, the world’s first Auto Calendar watch. Innovation and world firsts have defined the company’s history ever since, the most striking of these being the release of the first ever touch screen watch in 1991, 24 years before the Apple Watch, and the first ever wrist camera watch in 2000. In short, Casio was producing smartwatches decades before the term had even been coined. At a time when watches were seen as fragile, delicate instruments, Casio’s head of watch design, Kikuo Ibe, set out in 1981 to create “a watch that doesn’t break, even when dropped.” After 200 prototypes and two years of development, the Casio G-Shock was launched in 1983. Gaining its now legendary toughness from Ibe’s revolutionary decision to suspend the module inside a hollow rubber structure, a move he claims was inspired by seeing a child playing with a bouncy ball and realizing that no harm ever comes to the ball’s core, the G-Shock has been the go-to name in superbly durable and precise wristwear ever since. Every G-Shock is 10 metre drop resistant, hammer shock resistant, vibration resistant and water resistant to 20ATM, truly setting the standard in timekeeping toughness.

Based on the successful Combi GA100 X-large G Series this is an all digital version large size and wide face not only give a look of power and strength, but make it easy-to-read and use with its oversized buttons. For added visibilty in dark conditions, a designed high-density LED light has been employed to light up the dial face from behind. The result is a luminous display that's a true reflection of G-Shock's desire to keep improving timekeeping.
