The Case:

The Columbia Outbacker Brown Leather CSC01-001 is a classic field watch that will complement a variety of tastes, wrist sizes and lifestyles. It offers you simplicity, durability and legibility. The case’s diameter measures at 42mm and it is made of stainless steel, in order to increase the longevity of the watch. It also features two knurled crowns that are situated at the 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock marks. These crowns are the same used on the widely respected Seiko SKX divers. They are protected by crown guards in order to provide the watch with extra protection against the unexpected. Mineral-hardened glass is also used which provides the watch with a further layer of protection.

The Strap and Dial:

The brown leather strap completes the watch, as it gives the watch an authentic outdoors feel. It  also serves a practical purpose, as it is flexible and therefore provides the wearer with maximum comfort. It fastens easily by using a buckle clasp. The dial of the watch is navy blue and it features bold white lume coated indices and hands. There is a date window present at the 4 o’clock mark, it has a red trim which is coherent with the red crown guard and seconds hand. This is an aesthetically pleasing addition that ties together the design of the entire watch.

The watch is powered by highly reliable Japanese quartz movement. Also the watch is water resistant up to 50 metres, making the watch suitable for swimming in shallow depths.

The brand’s history began in 1937, when the Lammfromm family fled from Nazi Germany and settled in Portland, Oregon. They purchased a small hat manufacturer, naming it the Columbia Hat Company. The company was eventually passed down to Neal Boyle, the husband of Gert Boyle who's father it was who started the company. Gert Boyle eventually assumed control of the company in 1970, following Neal Boyle’s sudden passing. She soon earned herself a reputation as the ‘Tough Mother’ of the company due to the high standards to which she held herself and others. These standards still guide the company today.
