The Case:
The silver dial is housed inside a silver stainless steel case. The back of the case features a screwed design which means that the watch’s water-resistance is ensured over a longer time. The crown, of which can be seen at the 3 o’clock position, then screws into the thread of the tube and gaskets are fitted to further enhance water-resistance. Guarding the crown are two buttons either side which are used to access the watches chronograph function. All in all, the case measures at a diameter of 40mm which complements the sleek height of just 10.5mm. Sat inline with the case is sapphire crystal glass which allows for both a clear view and a resistance to any potential knocks and bumps.
The Strap:
The beautiful black leather strap complements the silver dial and case well, making for a stylish addition to your wrist. The strap can be easily fastened using a stainless steel buckle according to your size and taste.
The Dial:
The dial's three dimensional shape comes in form of the indexes, chronograph and date window. They are lowered ever so slightly to as suggested, make a whole new dimension to this timepiece. Black Arabic markers are seen displaying the seconds in five step increments around the edge of the dial alongside standard line markers. Sat at the 12 and 6 o'clock position are two subdials which make up the watches chronograph function with the easy to read date window at 3 o’clock. The chronograph compromises of a 12 hour and 30 minute display as well as a small second hand display. Additionally, the ever present Junghans logo can be seen at the 9 o'clock position.
The Functions:
The matte silver steel hour and minute hands are powered by a quartz movement, which is also known as a battery. The module in particular used is J645.37 which is known for its long life and reliability. As mentioned, due to the screw down design the watch has a water resistance of 50 metres, making it suitable for surface swimming. As mentioned, the chronogrpah function which is seen on the dial is used to measure time seperately. This is great for those sporty people amongst us as you are able to measure a run in the park to a quick sprint. Additionally, a stop second hand function halts the mechanism at the touch of a button, allowing for the most precise timing.
