The Case:
The Orient Mako Solar Chronograph RA-TX0203S10B is presented in a stainless steel case that measures 43mm in width and 13mm in height. It features a black unidirectional rotating bezel that exhibits a 60-minute count-up scale and a luminous pip at 12 o’clock. The bezel’s coined edges make it easier to grip and operate. The screw-down crown, located at 3 o’clock, is flanked either side by a crown guard which prevents it from being accidentally knocked out of place. The two push-buttons located at 2 and 4 o’clock allow the wearer to interact with the dial’s chronograph features. The glass is made of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and the solid case back offers high water resistance to 20 bar.
The Dial:
The dial is presented in white with a fine lustre finish. It showcases a combination of baton-style hour markers and bold Arabic numerals. The black sword-style handset is filled with a luminous material, which enables the dial to be read in the dark. It exhibits a chronograph layout - meaning it features additional dial complications that can be used to measure and displays elapsed time, that can assist in timing events or intervals. It consists of three black sub-dials at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock that exhibit a 24-hour display, a 60-minute display and a 60-second display. The dial also features a date display window that is located between the 4 and 5 o’clock markers.
The Bracelet:
The watch is presented on an oyster-style 3-link stainless steel bracelet that has been treated to a brushed finish. It fastens through the use of a three fold clasp that is signed with the Orient logo.
The Functions:
This timepiece is powered by an Orient calibre VS752 solar quartz mechanism, that works by converting energy obtained from sunlight and other light sources into electrical energy, so there is no need to replace batteries. The battery charging is achieved through the three subdials. It has an accuracy of +/- 20 seconds per month and a battery life of 6 months. It has a water resistance rating of 200 metres meaning it can be worn when diving.
