This watch is one of two special designs within the Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series, combining modern watchmaking with traditional Japanese heritage - inspired by the classical form of Japanese dance-drama: Kabuki. Kabuki theatre is known for its heavily-stylised performances, glamorous costumes and elaborate make-up.

The dial and underside of the strap features the traditional Japanese colour “Kakiiro, a rich scarlet-brown tone, the colour of the costumes traditionally worn by Kabuki masters.

The dials on Presage Sharp Edged timepieces feature a traditional Japanese pattern designed to bring growth and success, designs which also featured on Kabuki costumes in the Edo period and thereafter became highly fashionable. This angular ancient hemp print has been seen in Japanese artisan objects since the Heian period (794-1185) and features on textiles and interior styles.

This watch features a new case design with a mirror finish on both lug sides and a multi-hand calibre including power reserve indicator, day and date display along with a striking new two-layered dial.

The Case:

The Seiko  Limtied Edition Presage Sharp Edged Series SPB329J1 is a sporty dress watch that has a sharp, angular case that is constructed out of stainless steel and has been treated to a super-hard coating.

The Dial:

The dial is presented in a rich russet red tone, which is reference to the 'Kabuki' Japanede dance tradition.  The dial is embellished with gold applied hour markers and a faceted dauphine handset that is generously coated in a luminescent material. The dial also showcases a day-display sub-dial at 3 o’clock, a date-display sub-dial at 6 o’clock and a power reserve indicator sub-dial at 9 o’clock.

The Bracelet:

The SPB329J1 comes on a classic black leather strap. It fastens through the use of a standard buckle. 

The Functions: 

Seiko’s exclusive 6R21 calibre automatic movement provides this timepiece with an impressive 45-hour power reserve and an accuracy of +25/-15 seconds per day. It is made up of 28 jewells and it operates at a frequency 28,000 VPH. It has a water resistance rating of 100 metres, which means that it can be worn when snorkelling.
